Your thoughts on the future of Clarence Dock

Your thoughts on the future of Clarence Dock

One debate that is getting the locals talking is the future of Clarence Dock after news that local shops and restaurants are struggling due to a decrease in the number of people visiting the area. Speaking to friends and family the biggest issue is the lack of affordable parking.

The buildings around the dock look dour, gray and uninspiring. I would like to have seen a building like broadcasting tower near the Leeds metropolitan university to attract peoples attention. I really do hope things pick up.

Sunday snow flurry in Pudsey

Anyone who follows my tweets on Twitter will know that I am not a lover of snow since I had to walk 2.5 miles to get a bus to work. Well I woke up today and, ugh, more snow hit Pudsey and Leeds, so I ran out (not literally) and took a few photos.

Add your snow photos on our Life in Leeds Flickr Group.

Ask a local – Leeds travel advice

Ask a local – Leeds travel advice

Today we launched a new feature called ‘Ask a local’.

Awareness of our guide has started to grow and we have seen an increase in emails asking for information about the city. People can ask their travel questions and we’ll respond to them via email. So that we can get a good balance of local responses, we’ll be asking our fantastic community of readers on Twitter and Facebook for their opinion.

Frequently asked questions along with responses will be published on this blog.

Outdoor ice skating in Millennium Square

Outdoor ice skating in Millennium Square

The last time I went ice skating I spent most of it on my backside but those of you who have more style and balance might want to head to Leeds Ice Cube, Britain’s largest temporary ice rink in Millennium Square in the city centre. It is open until 7 March, so you have two weeks before it closes for another year.

Price per adult is £8.50 or £6.50 for children under 12.
