Today I took my nephew to Tropical World and Roundhay Park and what a great place it is. Roundhay Park has lots to offer both for kids and adults. There’s loads of great open spaces to relax, or play sports, picnics and family friendly. This is a photo I took of Canal Gardens.

Today I took my nephew to Harewood house and what a fantastic place for a family friendly day trip. These are the cute penguins we found enjoying the sunshine in the bird garden near the Terrace Gallery and bar. If you are lucky enough to arrive there at 2pm you’ll get to see the penguins being fed.

Last night I decided to head towards Holbeck Urban village area with a few friends, for a short real ale pub crawl. The real ale was good, and the walk between each pub was just the right distance to work off the excess food and drink.

Midnight Bell – 101 Water Lane, LS11 5QN

Cross Keys – 107 Water Lane, LS11 5WD
The route was the Hop, Midnight Bell, Cross Keys, and The Grove. You could add on Scarborough Tap, and Brewery Tap on to the route, but we ran out of time. My favourite was Midnight Bell. Did we miss out any pubs that you would have added into the real ale pub crawl.

I took this picture of the Leeds waterfront, granary wharf, this weekend. I have no idea what the round tower is called next to the Leeds City Inn, does anyone know? I love the mix up of different styles of architecture. We’ll be publishing a number of Leeds waterfront guides in the coming weeks, so watch this space.

I think it is such a shame what has happened to the Leeds Corn Exchange, but it’s good to hear that the first floor is now fully rented out. It’s a magnificent building, inside and out, and I hope we’ll see a return of the busy Corn Exchange it once was.
