Local challenge: who serves the best coffee in Leeds?

Local challenge: who serves the best coffee in Leeds?

Every time I am in the city centre, I find myself sat in a coffee shop drinking a cappuccino or Latte in between meetings. Leeds is lucky enough to have a growing number of independent / chain coffee houses and cafes that serve good coffee.

Who serves the best coffee in Leeds

A question I get asked a lot in emails and on Twitter is where the best places to go for coffee are. I’m a creature of habit, and tend to stick to one or two places but while sat on the bus today I decided to set myself a challenge to discover more coffee shops and try and find who makes the best coffee in Leeds.

Locals can nominate their favourite coffee shop

I am no coffee connoisseur, so I am going to ask you all where you for your recommendations. It can be anywhere within the LS postcode and throughout the next six weeks I will visit the top 5 popular places mentioned in the comments.

Tell your favourite places in the comments section and why.

You have until midnight on 18 September so leave your recommendations.

I will then set off with my camera and share with you my findings on Twitter and Facebook.

Announce my personal favourite

On the 30 October I will choose my personal favourite based on the quality of the coffee, presentation, customer service and surroundings. I drink cappuccino and latte so will try both drinks in all five of the coffee shops. This is just a bit of fun, so please don’t get all serious on me, those of you who are hard core coffee drinkers!

Win a top secret coffee prize..

Those of you who leave a comment will be put into a random draw for one person to win a surprise coffee related prize, and, the winning coffee shop will win two months free advertising on My Life in Leeds. The judges (that’s me) decision is final and all that legal stuff.

The hashtag to follow the conversation is #lscoffee on Twitter.

So that’s it, get adding your recommendation Leeds!

Update:

The winner of the competition prize kindly donated by LeCafeShop is Ben Thompson. I have emailed the winner.

The final 5 coffee houses as recommended by you all are:

1) La Bottega Milanese
2) Laynes Espresso
3) Opposite
4) Baraka
5) Timoney’s

I’ll be visiting these coffee shops over the next four weeks! If you’d like to join me at any of them let me know! A few more judges wouldn’t harm – coffee on me! :)
