How to get to and from Leeds
Around the Festival site
• Remember flags aren’t allowed in the main stages
• Have a meeting point to rendezvous after acts, phone networks can get very busy
• Stay away from any trouble, i.e. fights, you don’t want to ruin your weekend getting involved
• Keep a look out for the welfare tent, its open 24 hours and offers assistance
• Think about renting a locker form the main site for important items
• Moving between stages is tough and takes awhile. If you have a good spot, consider staying there.
• Don’t stress and plan on seeing everything, choose one or two main acts to see and go with the flow.
Camping at the Festival
• Arrive early, preferably a day before so you avoid the traffic and get a good tent pitch
• Make your tent stand out from the crowd
• Choose a spot away from the main festival ground, you’ll sleep better
• Buy a cheap popup tent, easy to put up
• Take a torch it’s a nightmare trying to find your tent in the dark
• Don’t take any bags with wheels, it’s a nightmare wheeling it around
• Don’t take a gas stove, buy a cheap disposable bbq
• Don’t camp too close to the toilets, a change in wind direction can make all the difference
• Make sure you sleep with your feet by the tent door and have all valuables behind your head
• Could be a good idea to take some earplugs for when you do want to get some sleep
• Empty out your backpack into your tent, it makes it harder for thieves to just grab your bag and run.
• Bring ziplock bags. They’ll keep your phone and other valuables dry if it rains.
Personal health and safety
• Stick together with your friends, don’t wander around alone
• Don’t take any expensive items like iPhone or expensive jewellery
• Don’t keep all of your money in one place
• Take some sun cream and make sure you don’t spend all day in the sun
• Buy plenty of water and don’t throw the bottles away, reuse them at the water taps
• Drink water throughout the day and stick to alcohol just in the evening
• Don’t accept drinks from strangers unless they are unopened and labeled
• Leave anything you don’t want to lose at home
• Don’t take all cash, they are cash machines on the site and nearby
• Let your hair down but do not be tempted to buy drugs onsite
Festival survival tips
• Take some waterproofs and spare clothes
• Take a cheapo mobile phone to keep in touch with friends or family
• Take a toilet roll, you’ll regret it if you don’t
• Buy some wellies or good boots to get around in the mud
• Take lip cream, baby wipes, and a fresh pair of underwear and socks for each day
• Take a few bin liners, you’ll know why when it’s raining
• If you look younger than 18 take age ID, i.e. passport, to get an over 18 wristband
• Be prepared to get wet and muddy and not sleep much, but smile and have fun
General festival tips
• Best to put alcohol like spirits in plastic bottles as they don’t let glass bottles in
• Take a disposable camera rather than your expensive one
• A supermarket is not far from the campsite, but be prepared to queue
• Plenty of places to eat onsite, it’s not cheap, but less hassle than carrying food from the supermarket
• Expect long delays getting out of the site, don’t rush there’s plenty of entertainment till the wee hours
• Have text message allowances. It will be hard to hear, you’ll be doing more texting than talking.
