Let's also celebrate The Midnight Bell - the fabulous gastro pub run by the people behind the city's independent microbrewery, Leeds Brewery.

My favourite has to be The Adelphi - quirky decor, great beers and food and excellent music/ events here.

@ Amy

It's the first time I have heard of this pub, thanks for leaving the comment.

Guess that's another pub I need to try out! :)

Best pub in Leeds bar none: The Chemic Tavern - bit of a trek from the city centre, but they let you eat chips from the chippy next door with your pint.

Hi, great to see some of the great locals given a mention here. There are some others that would get my vote too:

The Cross Keys - Holbeck Urban Village, fantastic food, patio and bbq menu this summer - run by the folks behind The Reliance and rated in The Observer's guide to best of british pubs this summer.

The Grove - behind Yorkshire Forward - hosts oldest folk club in Leeds - great beer, masses of soul, can't fault it.

The Angel - brew their own beer and its really affordable and friendly.

The Commercial - near Temple Works also Holbeck Urban Village. This pub is really little known and I think, deserves a visit - its a proper big old boozer with some really nice original architectural features. If you want to go off the beaten track, pay less for more and play some pool - this is your pub.
